ABOUT US

The Emo|Senses Lab is a functional unit of the Experimental and Applied Psychology Laboratory of the Department of Education and Psychology, University of Aveiro, and an integrated laboratory of the William James Center for Research. It was created in 2020, replacing the Olfaction Lab, and taking a more integrated approach to the study of emotions. At Emo|Senses Lab we seek to understand how emotions shape cognitive processes, as well as human behavior and physiology, using an experimental and psychophysiological approach.

The Emo|Senses Lab includes a group of junior researchers and others of high national and international standing, highly motivated to deepen the knowledge in the area of human emotion and its applications and implications in various areas, from health to engineering.

Coordinator: Sandra C. Soares

At Emo|Senses Lab we employ a multi-method approach to answer the different research questions we tackle. We have available the following lab equipment:

  • BIOPAC for the collection of several types of physiological data, with integrated ECG, EDA, EMG and current/voltage stimulator modules.
  • Eye tracker
