Filipa Barros was a PhD student at the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Aveiro, under a PhD scholarship in the Psychology area granted by FCT ("Can Emotional Body Odors Act as Social Facilitators in Autism Spectrum Disorders?", SFRH/BD/118244/2016). Filipa completed her PhD in 2023.
Her research interests include the study of social cognition and emotion processing in the general population and in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is also interested in visual and olfactory processing of social and non-social emotional stimuli, and how the senses interact to help making sense of the social world; particularly, how olfactory cues influence visual attention and perception.
Filipa completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2013 and her master’s in Health Psychology and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation in 2015, both at the University of Aveiro. She is a member of the Order of Portuguese Psychologists since 2017. She has previously worked as a psychologist in a project involving the promotion of socioemotional skills and academic success in elementary school. She also collaborates in other scientific projects, including the project "CENTR(AR): pulmões em andamento", where she develops psychoeducational sessions of stress and anxiety management for patients with chronic respiratory disease.
